Just one hour East of Melbourne, Puffing Billy has excited and entertained generations for over 100 years. Set in the foothills of Melbourne’s stunning Dandenong Ranges, this unique railway is one of the select few Steam Railways still open to the Public.
Opening in 1900, Puffing Billy was hugely popular, though sadly closed briefly in the 1950s following a landslide. All seemed doomed for Puffing Billy, with its treasured railway tracks being removed as the ‘last goodbye’.
Fortunately, following widespread community uproar, the Puffing Billy Preservation Society was formed, and in 1962 Puffing Billy was saved. The iconic railway has been open ever since.
Promising to be a wonderful day out, Puffing Billy has something for everyone!!!
