RADIO GEC is a radio club providing innovative, exciting, learning opportunities for Glen Eira College students to further develop their own creative interests and to expand and improve their communication skills and acquire specialised radio management skills at school.

The school has developed a partnership with 88.3 Southern FM Radio in Moorabbin. The Radio Club students work together on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school to create a radio program for the ‘Skule’ Breakfast Show which runs from 8.00am to 9.00 am on Thursday mornings.

The Radio Club also produces a ‘magazine’ type program on a three week cycle working as part of a small school cluster with Sandringham Secondary College and Haileybury College.

The students are involved in script writing, dialogue development, researching music and musicians, recording interviews, creating individual special interest segments, choosing material, voice production, hosting techniques, news and weather broadcasting, writing radio plays, reviewing films and TV shows, creating station identification jingles - basically everything needed to run a radio program.

Radio GEC successfully broadcast live-to-air three times during term three with more programs set to air on 88.3 Southern FM Radio during term four.

The Radio Club has become popular with Glen Eira College students from all year levels with waiting lists for studio recording times, hosting and news and weather readers. It has become a valuable asset to student activities and the school community.

The Radio Club is coordinated by teachers Ms Anbar and Ms Porter.
